So, today for the first time in my life, I drove in icy road conditions. It was scary for this L.A. girl, but I made it to my destination and back safely. It turns out the iciest roads are right in front of our house! I started out with the car in low gear and just drove slowly down the hills to the main road. It was still pretty slushy, but once I got on the interstate it dried up fairly well. I just stayed focused and tried to be calm, but it was hard. It reminded me of the days after the 1994 earthquake in Northridge when we had repeated aftershocks which made driving a bit dicey. At least today I had some control over myself since the roads were fairly predictable. I was also nervous getting home, but by that time many roads had melted. The next challenge is tomorrow morning. I have to leave a bit earlier than today, so hopefully we won’t have too much new ice overnight.
Have you had the opportunity to conquer any of your fears? Maybe it’s not as mundane as driving in bad weather. Have you been afraid of anything and confronted it head on? Maybe you’ve been afraid to deal with a life problem and have finally worked it out. Maybe you’ve been bothered by a personal relationship and have been afraid to work it out. Now is the time to tell your story! Take just 10 minutes and let me know who you are and what fears you have faced!
