Snowed in in Nashville

So, Nashville is having the biggest snowstorm since we moved here. Yesterday it snowed all day, and this morning, everything is white. It’s eerily quiet, and I have a slight claustrophobic feeling. Lots to do, but definitely homebound today. Who knows? Maybe I’ll actually go out and play in it. Still can’t believe I live somewhere it really snows on occasion. For those of you from colder climates, it may seem a bit lame but for this California girl it’s unnerving.

I also admit to being a bit scared of the cold. While some don’t mind the frigid weather, I really don’t like the sensation that seems to creep into my core when the temps dip below 50 degrees or so. Right now, it’s in the low 20s and the thought of going outside in it seems ridiculous But with the proper clothes and boots, I might venture out later in the day.

I am reminded of an experience years ago of being truly snowed in and stranded in Yosemite. Beautiful surroundings and scenery, but really nothing to do there when even the ice skating rink, ski slopes and hiking trails are closed. Hiking to the lodge for a beer was the day’s entertainment. Looking back, it was quite an adventure as we waited it out until the roads were open and then high-tailed it out of there to Reno, Nevada. Driving on deserted roads in the dark, scaring each other all the way!

So, have you ever had a similar experience? Snow, earthquake, illness, or just a time when you’ve felt “snowed in” by life? Tell me your stories! Remember, there’s no time like the present to take Your 10 Minutes!
