Do You Have 10 Minutes to Spare?

Self-Portrait (Fright Wig)

I’ve been reading on some other, really great blogs, about the imperative to be consistent in order to grow an audience.  I totally agree, and I’ve pledged to do my best to be consistent in my own posting.  I’m actually very impressed with some of my favorite bloggers’ ability to post something every day, or every other day.  I’m not sure how they do it, but I picture some of them writing into the wee hours of the night when I, for one, am simply too tired to be creative.  I find I am most creative in the morning so that’s when I tend to want to sit down at the computer and write.  The challenge is to prioritize my writing to meet my deadline.

Some folks may be wondering about the name of my blog and what it actually means. Andy Warhol said, “In the future, everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes.”  I’m not sure that’s true, but I do like the idea of everyone having the opportunity to speak their mind for a bit.  Fifteen minutes seemed like a long time, especially since my background is radio reporting, so I shortened it to 10 minutes.  My goal is to take my own 10 minutes to share my thoughts, and to encourage others to reach out to me to tell their stories.  I try to write my posts in 10 minutes (okay, sometimes it’s a bit longer) and I’m hoping to foster dialogue.

To help me achieve my goal I’d like to ask anyone who has a story to tell, or opinion to share, to share it with me on this blog.  If you have a unique story and would like to be interviewed for this blog, let me know that, too!  Please be civil and courteous, but feel free to give voice to your own truth.  I really believe that our differences bring us closer, and make us more interesting to each other.  I love learning new things and connecting with people.  So, you have an open invitation to connect with me and the people you meet in this space.  Here’s hoping we can all gain some understanding and have fun in the process!
