Last night I went to the Nashville Predators hockey game. This is a new sport for me since we moved here. At first, I thought it would just be brutal, but I’ve come to appreciate the challenges of the game. People skate on ice on thin blades chasing after a small round wooden puck not much larger in diameter than a baseball but flat. From our vantage point high up in the rafters, it looks like a medieval gladiator event. There’s occasional fighting, and the fans are not refined, but the roar of the crowd and the music are exhilarating! It occurred to me last night that probably each of the hockey players has some interesting story about why they chose this sport. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen before!
If you have a story about why you chose a particular sport or hobby, let me hear it! I’m interested to know what motivates folks to try scary and potentially dangerous activities. As for me, the scariest thing I’ve done is zip line in the Costa Rican rainforest and balay down a 150 meter tree.
Let me hear from you!
